Scarlet Innocence (2014)
Mature, Melodrama, Romance
20-year old Deok Yi’s quiet small-town life gets exciting when a former University Professor, Hak Kyu, moves in, running from the scandal of a sexual harassment allegation. He works as a literature instructor at a culture center and she works at an old amusement park. Mutual attraction leads the pair into a lusty affair, but when the fall semester begins, Hak Kyu is reinstated at the university and returns to his family in Seoul, leaving Deok Yi behind. She refuses to let the relationship die, and a confrontation between them turns tragic when Hak Kyu’s wife commits suicide.
8 years later, Hak Kyu is a popular writer, but he is barely able to see, losing his eyesight to a disease, and he's estranged from his daughter Cheong, who blames him for her mother's death. At this time, he befriends Se-Jung, a new neighbor who moves in next door. He gladly accepts her help and Cheong becomes romantically attached to her, neither realizing she is in fact Deok Yi, the woman Hak Kyu betrayed 8 years ago, now on a quest to destroy them. Her plan sets off a vengeance-fuelled chain of events that ultimately sets the three bitter, angry and desperate schemers on a twisting collision course with each other.
This is sorta the typical Korean psychological thriller with a hint of melodrama at it (an affair, revenge yada yada).
It kinda reminds me of A Tale of Two Sisters a bit.
This movie is not a walk in the park because the heroine was kinda twisted a bit, while the hero was a bit of a 'dreamer' that rarely touches his feet to the ground. Everyone was kinda at fault in the drama while being not wrong at the same time. It was kinda complicated but it was a pretty nice movie that got me thinking what is wrong and what is right. And the ending was kinda amazing, though cruel lol
Lady of the Dynasty (2015)
Historical, Romance, War
This movie is about the love story between Emperor Ming of Tang and the beautiful consort Yang Gui Fei.
If you love Chinese historical romance movies a lot, then this might be your cup of tea.
It has got a perfect mix of palace conspiracy, jealousy, love and yada yada.
However, in the modern words, I'd say the movie is all about passing the baton we call love till we fall down thanks to tiredness lol
All in all, Fan Bing Bing is as pretty as always <3
Kiss Me, Kill Me (2009)
A quiet, professional killer, Hyun-jun, arrives at a house to kill a man in his sleep, only to discover a woman alone under the sheets. She shouts at the dazed Hyun-jun, "Whats the matter with you? I paid for you, so just kill me."
Jin-young has decided to kill herself after a traumatic break up with her lover of seven years, but she wants to go out with a bang, not with a miserable and lonely dose of commonplace sleeping pills.
Hyun-jun is furious at the woman and abandons the mission despite the fact that he has a contract to fulfill. "You should kill yourself, Im not your suicide assistant." This is how Hyun-jun and Jin-young first meet. The most extraordinary love story begins ..
This is a romance with a hint of actions and a hint of comedy.
It's not a bad movie, but it defnitely isn't that worth mentioning either.
And oh, one of it main strengths is it defies logic and sadly not in a good way..
Thriller, Horror, Psychological, Drama, Family
Yoon-hee, a divorced plastic surgeon, is satisfied with her life as she has a lovely daughter, Hyunsu, who perfectly obeys her mother. However, this happiness comes to end as her patients, also friends of Hyunsu, commit mysterious suicides in front of her daughter. On the other hand, feeling suspicious of her mother and her past, which are partially unveiled, Hyunsu, tries to find the clue in the hidden basement of their house.
I don't remember much about this movie other than these two facts:
1. The movie involves a lot of cuttingssssss and knivesss of course
2. The movie is creepy.
Grave of the Fireflies (2005)
Drama, Family, Historical
NTV in Japan produced a live-action TV drama of Grave of the Fireflies, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. The drama aired on November 1, 2005. Like the anime, the live-action version of Grave of the Fireflies focuses on two siblings struggling to survive the final days of the war in Kobe, Japan. Unlike the animated version, it tells the story from the point of view of their cousin (the aunt's daughter) and deals with the issue of how the war-time environment could change a kind lady into a hard-hearted woman.
I didn't get it so I was really really detached from the movie TT_TT
The burned 'woman' was realisticly creepy thooooo..
Comedy, Friendship, Mature, Romance
Chi Ho, Dong Woo and Gyung Jae have been best friends since high school. Now, they are all 20-year-olds. Chi Ho has a girlfriend, So Min, but he only thinks about wooing other women. An accident leads Chi Ho to spend time with aspiring actress Eun Hye. Dong Woo hopes to work as a comic artist, but his family's poor financial situation has Dong Woo juggling several part-time jobs. So Hee is the younger sister of Gyung Jae and she just adores Dong Woo. Gyung Jae is a freshman in college. He hopes to land a job with a large corporation. Gyung Jae then meets an upperclassman, Jin Joo, who takes an interest in him and he falls in love with her.
Twenty is what I would say a clear portrayal of the first few years lives of boys in their twenties in Korea.
However, since I don't live in Korea, some of the brutal honesties thrown in my way were kinda not appreciated much. It has got nothing to do with the movie though because all faults lie on me.
My favourite part of the movie would be my Kim Woo Bin and Lee Yoo Bi though <3
Kim Woo Bin's brattiness was fun to watch (he was sooooo cute throwing tantrumssss!) while Lee Yoo Bi's teen frankness was really adorable <3
Drama, Friendship, Military, Romance, Tragedy
Hua Mulan disguises herself as a man to take the place of her sick father in a war against nomadic invaders.
Well it's a pretty decent story bout a tough girl and her tough life.
Everything was bittersweet <3
My Way (2011)
Action, Drama, Historical, Tragedy, War
Jun-shik, who works for Tatsuo’s grandfather’s farm while Korea is colonized by Japan but he has a dream to participate in Tokyo Olympics as a marathon runner. Tatsuo also aims to become a marathon runner, so the two are in rivalry. But the war breaks out and they both are forced to enlist the army.
Tatsuo became the head of defense in Jun-shik’s unit and he devises a scheme but fails. Jun-shik and Tatsuo are held captive by the Soviets. They run away but soon are captured by Germans and forced to separate. In 1944, they meet again at the shores of Normandy.
This movie reminds me of Taegukgi and it's not just because the main actor was played by Jang Dong Gun (a super talented man at that!). It didn't beat Taegukgi when it comes to the crying-as-if-I-just-lost-a-puppy moments, but it was really really close. It's amazing how war managed to separate and unite people! The devastation, unlike in Tae Guk Gi was more focused towards the army itself instead of varying from the poor to the rich. It's an amazing movie that portrays the battle between two people, Jun Shik and Tatsuo and how in time, the line between friends and enemies got blurred.
Kinkyori Renai (2014)
Manga, Romance, School

Soon, Yuni develops feelings for her teacher and she realizes that she is now in love. Yuni then confesses to her teacher. ~~ Based on the manga series with the same name by Mikimoto Rin.
Loved the movie simply because teacher-student romance is my favourite genre lol
But seriously, this movie is so cute and one of my fave Japanese movie so far.
A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
Drama, Horror, Psychological

Su Yeon is more timid and wary of their stepmother and looks to Su-mi for help. Continually picked on and harassed by their stepmother, the two have no choice but to endure the relationship for their father's sake. Su Mi promises Su Yeon that she will never let their stepmother beat them again. Unexplainable things start to occur at the house. Something has changed, no one knows what it is, but the sisters can feel it. On their first night back, Su Yeon hears someone running up the stairs, opening her door, and walking up to her bed. As soon as she pulls the covers over her head, they are pulled right off, yet no one is around. Could it be their stepmother trying to torment them? Or could it be that there's something more sinister at work, a supernatural force in the houses that wants to drive everyone away?
One of the two Horror movies that actually scared the hell out of me.

Sang Sattawat (2008)
Action, Martial Arts

Full of actions.
Kung Fu Hustle (2004)
Action, Comedy, Martial Arts
Shanghai, circa 1940, and the gangs run everything. Only the slums are safe from organised crime because there's no profit to be had.
Enter Sing, a low-life hustler determined - as a result of a childhood humiliation that taught him good guys never win - to be a bad-ass gangster.
Sadly, Sing is the one guy in pre-revolutionary China who can't do kung fu. Forget nunchukku. He can't even wield chopsticks. So to squeeze pennies out of unsuspecting scaredy cats, he masquerades as a member of the dapper - but deadly - Axe Gang.
Bad idea. These guys hack rival gangs to pieces then celebrate with a song-and-dance number in top hats and tails. Think of it as East Side Story with tomahawks and tuxedos.
But when Sing and his overweight, unnamed sidekick enter the especially awful slum Pig Sty Alley their ruse doesn't wash with the locals, who are ruled by an iron-fisted, chain-smoking landlady and her drunken husband.
Before you can say "Hi-Yah!", the slum dwellers are revealed as kung fu masters who've been living in disguise among the poor.
There's a chef, who uses his martial arts skills to shape pastry, and a gay tailor, who uses curtain rings as weapons.
The shrieking landlady can run like Roadrunner and her hubby can bend his body like Plastic Man. The calamity soon grabs the attention of the real Axe Gang, who want a piece of the action.
And make no mistake, the action is as jaw-dropping as it is deliriously demented. Fight scenes are dubbed with the ringing sounds of pinball machines.
A must watch for fans of Chinese Martial art movies :)
Drama, Family, Historical

There she overhears another volunteer tell the story of his mother's anguish over a decision made during the 1976 Tangshan earthquake involving himself and his twin sister ...
A simple but complicated movie focused on manipulating your feelings in order to sell the story.
Not for the unfeelings and for those who don't really understand what war really is.
Yeah, I was referring to myself.

A kinda cute movie that is pretty simple.
Nothing amazing happened tho.
New Police Story (2004)
Action, Suspense, Law, Crime
Welcome to the next generation of POLICE STORY! The once famous but now disgraced Inspector Chan and his new rookie partner, Frank, are headed towards an action-packed showdown with a sadistic punk gang. Action packed and super sad. One of my fave movies ever.

Not bad but not that good either in my opinion dues to some cheesy events lol
Romance, Drama, Melodrama

At school, his classmate Tae-su asks him to write a love letter to send to a girl. And who would it be but Joo-hee, Joon-ha's dream girl. It wasn't as sad and as romantic as I expected.
I loved the ending though.

Funny! But the CGI effects were not that amazing tho.
Still creepy at times too tho, so no biggie lol
Crazy Little Thing Called Love (2010)
Comedy, Romance, School, Youth

His name is Shone and most girls are crazy about him cause he is hot, perfect and nice. She tries to do everything to make herself get noticed by her crush in hopes he will look her way.
A childish and sorta ridiculous movie bout a not-so-pretty girl desperate for a too-handsome-for-his-own-good boy.
Confession of Murder (2012)
After the statute of limitation expires on the murders he has committed, Lee Doo Suk publishes an autobiography, "I'm A Killer", describing all his murders in great detail. Detective Choi, who investigated Lee's murders 15 years ago, starts the chase once again and Han Ji-soo, who lost her daughter to Lee, pledges vengeance. Meanwhile, another killer appears, casting doubt to whether Lee is the real serial killer.
Watched it because of Park Shi Ho but couldn't finish it because I didn't like the mystery and the plot.
My own fault tho and probably has got nothing to do with the quality of the movie whatsoever.
Hwayi: A Monster Boy (2013)
A 5 member gang, led by Seok Tae, kidnaps a baby boy named Hwa Yi and raises the baby like their own son. The baby boy is now 17 years old and has turned into a lethal killer. Taking part in his father's gang, Hwa Yi learns about his own past. Hwa Yi pulls out his gun to find out who he really is.
A movie that taught me that no matter how nice a monster is, in the end it's still gonna be a monster.
I love Jin Goo's acting in this movie <3
Music, Romance, School
The story was about high school student Ye, who studied in the school his father taught. Ye's piano skill was above others. On the first day of school, while walking around the piano rooms, he heard an unknown and beautiful melody, played by Lu. From then on, the two were always together. However, Lu seemed mysterious and when Ye tried to get to know her more, she always brushed off his questions by saying that it was a secret. There was a misunderstanding between the two of them, and subsequently Lu never came to school anymore. Ye was heartbroken. But the more he tried to find out, he realized that things were not as they seemed.
I really loved the touch of paranormal in the movie and although I was a bit nervous bout the couple relationship at first due to the mystery surrounding the girl, everything worked out really well in the end.
Shoot My Heart (2015)
Drama, Friendship, Medical, Psychological
Set at a psychiatric hospital. Soo-Myung has suffered from schizophrenia due to his guilt that he suffers from his mother's suicide. He meets Seung-Min at the psychiatric hospital. Seung-Min has been forcibly hospitalized because of his wealthy family's inheritance fight. Dreaming of getting out of the hospital, Seung-Min constantly tries to escape. Soo-Myung begins to follow Seung-Min.
I actually didn't remember much of the synopsis when I watched it so in my head I had this funny movie with a hospital background images painted in my head. So imagine my surprise when I realized that the movie wasn't a romance movie and more of a movie of friendship! I really enjoyed the show though because the mentally handicapped people in the movie were all fun to get to know to especially the mysterious Sung-Min who befriended Soo-Myung in the hospital.
Their friendship was amazing and I shipped them till the end.
On her way to school, a young girl named So Won (which literally means "wish" or "hope" in Korean) gets sexually assaulted by a drunk older male stranger. As a result, she suffers multiple internal injuries and has to undergo a major surgery, but her emotional wounds are equally difficult to heal. Their happy family shattered, her parents Dong Hoon and Mi Hee go through feelings of pain and rage. From the trauma of that day, So Won refuses to see or talk to her father, so Dong Hoon hides beneath the costume of his daughter's favorite cartoon character and becomes a "guardian angel" at her side. ~~ Based on a true story, the infamous Nayoung Case in 2008.
A heartbreaking movie based on a real life event, what more can I say?The movie had stolen litres of my tears simply because I just couldn't bear the thought of having someone that adorable and cute face it.
The interactions between the girl and her family broke my heart again and again
and I guess that's the strongest part of the movie, the family tie.

The idea of write a name in a book and they die is pretty amazing
and add geniuses to that and I was hooked!
Kimi ni Todoke (2010)
Friendship, Manga, Romance, School, Youth
Well-meaning, but socially awkward, Sawako Kuronuma is nicknamed "Sadako" by her classmates because of her similar hair cut with the main character from the horror movie "Ring". Her life then takes a turn when Shota Kazehaya, the most popular boy in school, falls for her ...
Bpth funny and sad and then also pretty cute.
Love the plot of a sad awkward girl meeting a popular boy though its pretty cheesy lol

I loved the idea of she-was-supposed-to-kill-him-but-she-fell-in-love-with-him-instead., the rest? Not so much.
Amazing ending tho.

The woman's name is Ho-Jung. ~~~ The movie will be directed by Han Dong Wook. The movie has no connections to the new MBC drama “When A Man's In Love.”
A kinda 'stupid' gangster meets a serious girl (from one of my fave dramas, Thorn Bird of eons ago lol) and fell in love.
Light and then dark.
TEARJERKING ALERT!! <--not too heavy tho ;)

In the story, Jeon plays a street artist who dreams of opening her own exhibition someday, while Jeong portrays a killer who loves her but cannot confess his love to her because of his profession
This is one of my oldest Korean movie I have watched (one of the firsts) and I actually had a great time enjoying the emotional punch the movie brought through the good police, the lonely killer and the poor painter.
It wasn't over the top sad, but it was sad.
Strongly recommended to those who like a bit of mystery with a love triangle.
Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012)
Action, Drama, Fantasy, Thriller
Xiaowei searches for a freely given heart in order to become human, while Princess Jing dons a man's armor to search for her true love.
The movie was about a Princess who became scarred in her face because of a beast.
She was in love with her general and he was in love with her too but due to their 'positions'
the general was afraid to accept her love thus making her think that he didn't want her because she was ugly. This is where the I-can-make-you-look-pretty-with-a-sacrifice demon.
A pretty nice plot and kinda beautiful scenes made me glued to the screen,
however supernatural or whatever it is (demons etc) is not really my kind of thing when it comes to Chinese shows and movies so I didn't really enjoy the beautiful movie as much as I should.
Il Mare (2000)
Romance, Sci-Fi, Fantasy
Sung-hyun, who just moved into ' Il mare ' receives a strange letter. The letter is from a young woman in the year 1999, two years from the present. Her predictions about the past are amazingly accurate. Her warning about a flurry of snow on a certain day in January of 1998 and the ensuing flu virus turns out to be true.
Eun-Joo is convinced that her letter has traveled back in time to December of 1997 and starts writing regularly to her newfound pen pal. A professional voice actor, Eun-joo asks Sung-Hyun to find her long lost cassette recorder at a train station. Sung-Hyun goes to the train station and gets a glimpse of Eun-Joo, who of course, has no idea who he is.
I loved the movie, it was melo, and it was nicely plotted.
I think the lake house was the prettiest of the places (thought the long lil jetty scared me somehow cause I'm afraid they were gonna fall lol)
I loved how they made the future and the past synchronize each other.
And the ending was pretty unexpected and I loved it!
Nice to be enjoyed with a cup of tea on a winter tho :D
The Palace (2013)
Drama, Historical, Romance
Set in the final years of Emperor Kangxi’s reign, The Palace will focus on Yinxiang, the thirteenth son of Emperor Kangxi, and the political upheavals and love stories of his youth.
The movie was about two palace servants who were friends since childhood but thanks to the prince affection, they became enemies as one chose to betray the other.
I liked the movie but I really didn't like the betrayal part a lot.
Seriously, how could people change from a beauty to a bitch in just a second?!

This movie made me lose lotsa tears, even more than Tae Guk Gi did and that's saying something because I cried freaking a lot watching Taegukgi!
Aya was the strongest person ever, and if I were her I don't think I would have been even half that strong, and it's a really shameful fact!
And for her to actually been a living and real person, it amazed me even more.

Gang In Ho is the newly appointed art teacher at Gwangju Inhwa School, a school for hearing-impaired children. He is excited to teach his new students, yet the children are aloof and distant, trying to avoid running into him as much as possible. When the children finally open up, In Ho faces the shocking and ugly truth about the school and what the students have been enduring in secret; the children are being physically and sexually abused by their teachers. The movie is based on a true story.
This movie provoked two of my main feelings : anger and sadness.
Everything, I repeat, everything those monsters did to the kids angered me to no end.
I seriously found it hard to believe that such people actually existed in this world!
How could they do such things to such innocent and poor kids?!
Being poor is one thing, and being hearing impaired is one thing!
And the situation.......it saddens me a lot.
It's one thing to be facing such things, but its another thing to have to watch those monsters
get away with what they have done just because everyone was freaking corrupt in the freaking town!
However, in the end the price they paid to have the justice made me feel bittersweet.
That's what life is all about, I guess.
A Werewolf Boy (2012)
Drama, Mystery, Romance, Supernatural
A mother moves with her older daughter and younger daughter to a large home in the country side. The older daughter suffers from a lung ailment and her doctor advised the family to move out into the country side. The home is provided by Ji Tae, the son of a business partner who worked with their deceased father. While the family gets acclimated to their new surroundings, the older daughter makes a remarkable discovery. Within a locked room in the barn lives a wild boy. The family takes him in believing he is just an orphan with little social skills. The boy with little social skills begins to take an interest in the oldest daughter.
I loved the movie, I really did and I still do.
I love the progresses of the werewolf boy from a werewolf to a boy.
I love his relationship with the family and the girl.
I love the beauty of the story.
the ending was one of the most ridiculous endings I have seen in my entire life,
(Titanic level, I guess).
I just couldn't help but be pissed off by that ending.
Forgetting someone who never forgot you, seriously, can't you be crueler?!
Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004)
Action, Drama, Military, Tragedy, War
"Tae Guk Gi" is a fictional story of two brothers, Jin Tae and Jin Seok, who are unwillingly drafted into the South Korean army following the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950. Young Shin, Jin Tae's fiance, makes their situation even more miserable by joining the communist party to get food for the rest of the family.
The stronger of the two brothers, shoeshine boy Jin Tae, makes it his life's mission to keep his weaker younger brother Jin Seok safe from any danger. The only way to do that was to win a medal of honor. Motivated by the promise of a superior officer that if he wins the medal, his brother will be sent home, Jin Tae fights fearlessly and becomes a great warrior.
Tears, and more tears.
And again more tears.
The thing about war is, sometimes you don't know what on Earth you are fighting for,
but you lose everything to it nonetheless.
Having closed himself away from the world, former boxer Chul Min starts a new job as a parking lot attendant. One night, a visually impaired young woman, Jung Hwa, walks into his tollbooth to watch television with him. Jung Hwa's bright spirit and smile in the face of adversity reach through to Chul Min's heart and shine a ray of hope into both their lives, but their love and happiness may be short-lived.
A pretty nice love story that's not too sweet
and not too stick-like.
Life is not all sunshine,
but you can find rainbows in those rains.
King Gwanghae has been the King for the past 8 years. He is now in danger of being poisoned. King Gwanghae then places low class citizen Ha-Sun, who strongly resembles himself, in his throne.
What a funny story!
I love the fake king a lot lol
And the rest are pretty okay I guess.
In the end the point is: Life goes on :)
Action, Crime, Drama
Set in the 1930's, an assassination plot, intended to take out a pro-Japanese group, takes place. Assassins and agents from the Korean interim government gather together. Sniper An Ok-Yoon is the leader of the assassin group. She takes on this mission due to her strong desire to see Korea's independence. Yeom Seok-Jin is an agent from the interim government. He plans out the assassination and gives orders to An Ok-Yoon's group. Hawaii Pistol is a contract killer within the group.
I didn't really watch the movie for its fighting-for-freedom premise so I basically rooted the actors based on their characteristics instead of for what they were fighting for.
I was smitten with Hawaii Pistol because of all of them, he was the one who showed his feelings the most in the clearest way despite the fact that he was pretty undecided on who he's rooting for and vice versa.
I love how he was not necessarily good but he loved his country nonetheless unlike another character that won't be named :D

The story revolves around Mika (named after the author), who falls in love with her classmate, Hiroki, upon entering high school. But over the course of the novel, she ends up suffering through many trials, such as rape, abortion, and betrayal.
It started off as bittersweet
and then it quickly went and became
a robber who's hell bent on robbing me of every tear stored in my eyes.
Ugh, so heartbreaking!

The story was pretty nice, but sadly, I am not a huge fan of the heroine
since she came across as pretty selfish to me.
She changed but the reason behind it is not her self conscience which is not good at all huh.
