The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger

The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend

the DUFF

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

hmm.. let me tell you one thing, this book is for mature young adult. So the story doesn't just revolve around sweet love story, there's more than that.

Okay, so what is this book about?
-about a girl who falls for the bad guy and she changes him (not such an original idea I guess)

How's the writing?
-simple and easy to understand. Not too descriptive of unimportant things

How's the plot?
-predictable (although I suck at predicting stuff lol)

What's the main theme?
-romance and a little bit of family problems

So does the story is relatable?
-yes and no. Yes for when she is not with him and no when she's with him (I'm not sure whether it's love or lust).

A very short summary?
-he calls her DUFF
-she hates him
-they meet again
-she kisses him
-she has issues
-they have sex
-they keep having sex
-she throws away her friends
-she stops meeting him
-she returns to her friends
-she starts someone else
-she misses him
-he pursues her
-they make up
-the end!

So what do I think of this book?
-simple. Don't like it much but I guess I don't hate it.

My rating?
-2  bright stars!

So the question of the year, would I recommend it?
-if you're a fan of cheesy family issues and love-hate relationship, just give it a try
-if you're not a fan of predictabe stories, stay away from this book

What to read after The DUFF?
-Kane Richards Must Die
-oh...I guess thats the only book that i think is quite similar to this one~
