Slammed and Point of Retreat

I love these two books, SO FREAKING MUCH! oh sorry for yelling, you know I tend to yell when I am so freaking excited or mad, but in this case it is the former~

So what is the theme? It's a family + romance kind of book. It may sound lame or what but you gotta read it to know what is the series all about.. And believe me, once you read it, you won't want to stop~

Slammed (Slammed #1) by Colleen Hoover (Goodreads Author)

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.
Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.
Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover (Goodreads Author)

Hardships and heartache brought them together…now it will tear them apart.

Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything; until someone from Will’s past re-emerges, leaving Layken questioning the very foundation on which their relationship was built. Will is forced to face the ultimate challenge…how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’

So what is so great about this series?

It involves poetry! Not the what-the-heck-are-you-trying-to-say kind of poems, just a simple one. In these books, people slam (slam simply means deliver their poems). People are honest with their feelings in writing the poem.
The other great thing about this book is the family relationship in it. Will loves his brother, and Layken loves her brother too. Both main characters come from an imperfect family but they bear it.
Lastly, the main focus of all is the love story. It's not completely sweet because there's like lots of problems with their relationship, but they manage to get through it. And although they 'crave pumpkins' at times, they survive the hardships~

Read it! Read it! Read it!
